      Yeah, we NEED to find a way to cheat, cheating is what will let us actually do any of this.

      You need far less composting agents this way, you can add a little to a lot of moon soil to make it fertile enough for growth, and then once plants get started it will work towards making even more compost/soil.

      FFS… you aren’t sending seeds up and sticking them in a vacuum in the powdered asphalt that is the moon’s surface, you are planting them in habitats for food and oxygen. Except that you can’t haul soil up with you. I mean, you could but it’s vastly expensive. If we have a way to use the “ground” that’s already up there, that’s a pretty big deal, because that shit is basically ground up glass.

      No but it does mean we don’t need to ship up potting soil if a base were to be established.
