I start: the most important thing is not the desktop, it’s the package manager.

Just install BIOS updates from within the BIOS like a normal person.

  my ROG rig lets me do that but the others are .exe files for some dumbass reason

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
