I hope they overhaul Thingiverse’s user interface.
Fuck me, I love the site but the UI makes borderlands 1 look like a masterpiece.
Something taking over another something usually doesn’t end up well for the user’s.
True but thingiverse has been neglected for years now. Printables, Maker world, thangs, etc. are much better sites with a much better user experience.
Thingiverse was dying before this take over, so hopefully they’ll improve it.
If not, there’s plenty of competition out there.
I’m in a tricky position here.
I use MyMiniFactory, have backed several frontiers things and am a member of a few tribes.
I also use Thingiverse a lot.
And while I certainly don’t want to pay for AI content, I don’t mind that much if it’s free. There have been times that I’ve looked for something for DnD and the only option was AI generated. And honestly, I’d much rather have that than no model at all.
There are LOTS of other places STLs are hosted. The dregs will move to new hosts.
Yah thingiverse kind of fell off of my radar over the years with printables.
