It’s in emacs! Using alt instead of ctrl https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_node/emacs/Secondary-Selection.html

You’re describing the primary selection. The article’s about patching secondary selection back into gtk3 (c. 2015?). It’s ctrl+select followed by ctrl+middle to paste as yet another clipboard. This has the unique and useful property that neither selection nor paste changes the text cursor’s position.
A more in-depth look at secondary selection is in the embedded video which has it’s own write-up on https://www.cs.man.ac.uk/~lindsec/secondary.html
[I suspect primary-secondardy selection is not a confusion you have, but one a casual skip-the-article-direct-to-comments reader might have]

1·2 years agoDoes ReactOS already support the newest office and Photoshop out of the box!?
MS Office 2021 is garbage but at least 2016 and O365 Home (32-bit) are both silver. The linked Photoshop CC 2023 is also silver. That already seems like an impressive feat by the wine team.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Software to use laptop/tablet screen as an external monitorEnglish
2·2 years agoI’ve gone the x11vnc on a dummy display route, but found the setup’s too much ceremony to want to use with any consistency.
Deskdock + barrier/synergy is slightly more ergonomic – your laptop mouse and keyboard redirect to control android when you move the mouse out of the laptops screen and onto the tablet, but both displays are showing their native OS.
It’s entirely tangential (not for android, not just a screen), but arcan does some cool stuff in this space. Here’s a video of “sever tunneling” https://youtu.be/jIFjzN7dk10?t=107 (fancy x11 forwarding; It looks fascinating, but I’ve never gotten it setup).
There are lots of ways to move data between or within graphical windows! But the list is shrinking
