Already starting to, at least for smaller companies and startups that were trying to use it to build things end to end.
If you use it to provide you with content, sure, easy no worries. building a website? sure no problem as long as it doesn’t require any sort of logins or security stuff. an application? well now you’re going to have some problems.
Most AI can’t scale something. and most are absolutely horrible at any sort of security. and all of them can’t UX themselves out a wet paper bag.
Now if you utilize them as a tool, a sort of rubber duck, sure they’re great. The issue is, and I’m seeing this first hand because of my job, is that many smaller companies and start ups aren’t doing that. They’re assigning someone, a “vibe coder”, to feed the thing prompts to build stuff from end to end. Naturally the end product is an insanely resource heavy, convoluted code, exploitable mess that can’t scale. It creates a massive amount of tech debt. All to save a couple grand instead of hiring actual devs. So now when I get a call or email from one of my contacts that “so and so’s company/start up needs someone to clean up their app because it’s very broken due to a vibe coder” I charge them an arm and a leg.
So you’re right, it is going to fail and implode on it’s own weight but I’m going to damn well be sure to take advantage of these people before it completely does and I encourage other freelance/consultant developers to do the same.
oh good lord no. years, decades, centuries even couples have trusted each other WITHOUT the need to tracking their where abouts. suddenly this is something we need? no it isn’t. but sure, you go ahead and slap a tag on your “loved one” so you know where they are at all times and so will whatever company is selling your data from said tag.
one of the best products Microsoft ever produced. I absolutely LOVED my old Lumia. great phone, the OS was perfect, just an awesome all around phone. wish I still had it.
“You are an absolute fucking idiot who can barely code…”
Honestly, that’s what you have to do. It’s the only way I can get through using Claude.ai. I treat it like it’s an absolute moron, I insult it, I “yell” at it, I threaten it and guess what? the solutions have gotten better. not great but a hell of a lot better than what they used to be. It really works. it forces it to really think through the problem, research solutions, cite sources, etc. I have even told it i’ll cancel my subscription to it if it gets it wrong.
no more “do this and this and then this but do this first and then do this” after calling it a “fucking moron” and what have you it will provide an answer and just say “done.”
I’ve blocked the .ml instance so I wouldn’t know.
there’s such a painfully obvious agenda over there with the admins. I got a 7 day ban for knocking russians and saying “slava ukraini” then I got a perm ban a week after that for posing the question “how long until an average citizen with an AR decides to deal with ICE themselves?” because apparently both times I was “inciting violence against a minority” because Russians and ICE agents, according to Reddit, are minorities
honestly the ONLY reason I’m still on Linkedin is the entertainment value. Threads by game devs are just…wild. just that ONE specific group provides a great hearty chuckle in the morning without insanely idiotic they are.
You want to read threads by individuals who think they float on water, their shit don’t stink, and each one is a personal jesus and then fight with each other over it? go read threads by game devs on linkedin.
