With China/the CCP’s supposed financial struggles, selling TikTok to Elon for immediate liquidity does actually make sense.
huh just the fact that this could happen is a bit funny to see as it does signal that capitalism is a stronger force than authoritarianism

Actually rethinking about this, I’m reconsidering the idea that instead of money the CCP’s probably wants the control of public perception, money doesn’t really make too much sense as selling TikTok would only provide short term cash unless they’re desperate… surely not right?

7·7 months agoAlongside the Phoronix commentors I’m also of the same opinion that implementing Canonical’s defunct Snap package system is a waste of time and effort.
At this point, everyone with an understanding of the 3 primary containerized package types should know that Snaps in comparison to Flatpaks or AppImage packages should be avoided if possible.
If Canonical open-sourced their backend I believe that snaps would no longer cause such aversion and backlash from the community.

Here’s a short list of NZXT’s scummy and potentially illegal behavior:
- overcharging customers
- swapping parts to the detriment of their customers
- silently price jacking during an existing rental without informing the customer beforehand
- preventing customers from cancelling subscriptions by redirecting customers to a 404 page
- silently increasing subscription prices after offering an implied free monitor, keyboard, and mouse
Not that it’s of any consolation, just better to assume that nowhere is safe from being mined for AI training.
