There is a default? I installed it at least 5 times in the last year and I don’t remember doing more than clicking a single button to choose KDE, but I had to choose at some point. But my memory is shit
https://veloren.net/ is a voxel MMO and it is already very playable
For years I actually want to contribute, for any project that I use I don’t care, I just want to do something, but my English is not fluent, it is reasonable but not fluent, I have a little of social anxiety, and I have no bounds with anyone that contribute with these projects, so I am terrified of taking an issue to work. You know, I don’t want to do shit, and I probably does not know these projects so well so I feel a little stuck.
I already opened some issues but I only did that

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why should I primary Linux for Home Desktop and which one do you recommend?
1·2 years agoAs a full spare timer gamer I slightly disagree with the point about games, if you can give a very small set of games away you can still play a ton of different games. But… Sometimes you will have to do some stuff to work properly, but it is very doable, i dont think it is will be a no go for anyone actually willing to switch, just my point.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why should I primary Linux for Home Desktop and which one do you recommend?
4·2 years agoFor me Linux is about customization, from windows7, Microsoft is removing a lot of things and trying to force a streamlined way of use it. I hate it.on Linux you have a much more control of your workflow, doing things in your wa, also there is a sense of community, wikies work, tutorials usually are better.
But, if you are super confortable with windows I will suggest you to not change. There is no reason for that, only if you are curious, but none system will be better that one you already like in every aspect and you need nothing.
For a beginners a distro is not even the most important thing, but the desktop environment, i can recommend endevourOS, manjaro, and mint, i the order i like most, and for the DE i highly recommend Cinnamon or KDE since you clearly don’t feel the need to change your desktop so much, Mate is also a greatDE but it is just a little bit uglier but has a good performance if you have a less potent machine

Linux@lemmy.ml•What are the main challenges in Linux adoption for New users, and how can it be addressed?English
4·2 years agoThis, a lot of ppl talk about the pre installed thing but Linux has a lot of friction yet. Linux is big, it’s open and made to run in almost any device with an arm or x86 processor, yet Linux is usually a pain in the ass on edge cases and we cannot ignore. Some years ago dealing with drivers on Linux was a hell, today is better but still has edge cases (this is not a Linux fault usually, vendors are shit usually but it cause friction. Audio just recently was resolved with the adoption of pipewire but pulseaudio had a lot of caveats. Now we are getting rid of X11 that is great for usual usecases but is full of workarounds if you want to to a simple thing like having two monitors with different refresh rates. There is a lot of things but linux is going forward, last year I could made my full switch since gaming on Linux became a thing but definitely was not plug and play.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What developments in the Linux world are you looking forward to the most?
1·2 years agoFor me the console API is just horrible. Also idk if it is a packaging problem but a lot of things I tried in the past were a lot bugier than my distro package

Actually, 85% retracted but the remaining 15% seems barelly receive signals. It is even worse
