I had like $9.22 remaining credit from some international calls back in 2002 I was going to use…eventually.

The_v@lemmy.worldto science@lemmy.world•The banana apocalypse is near, but biologists might have found a key to their survival2·1 year agoBananas are clonally propagated. The pathogen is inside the vascular tissue. No way to get rid of it from plants once infected.
Fusariums have developed resistance to many fungicides. They keep becoming resistant to more.
The_v@lemmy.worldto science@lemmy.world•The banana apocalypse is near, but biologists might have found a key to their survival3·1 year agoFusarium spores are viable in the soil for more than 30 years. They also tend to infect multiple species, once they are in a region they are there for good. The spores are transmitted around the world in on seeds or soil. The spores are found at a very low rate (like 1:1,000,000,000) on the surface of many species of seeds. It’s well below the detection level of any test.
They are cheap because they are a commodity and exploit low paid workers.
The heyday of the forums. For about 2 years the combination of Tapatalk and forums was awesome. Centralized interface with no ads, all the discussion.
Then they both gutted their functionality and spammed in the ads.
Go back and check again. They are actively restoring deleted comments. About once a month I log back on and delete another round. Usually another 10-15 “mysteriously” pop back up again.

Pretty much every company I have worked for.
They then pushed it out hard into the consumer market when SSD came out and the average storage space on lower end models dropped by 75%.
I see why they did it, how they did it was in usual Microsoft fashion, idiotic.
It’s sort of their pattern.
-
Introduce new changes.
-
Screw it up royalty.
-
Fix the features that are salvageable and revert most of the remaining except: Double down on the shitty ones that they think will make them more money.
-
Rinse and Repeat

It’s a niche market until enough devices become compatible. Then a rapid adoption as things reach their normal end-of-life and are replaced.
So wifi 7 will be widely adopted in 5-7 years if it proves stable.

Android auto/carplay was required to purchase the vehicle. I looked at one that didn’t have it and said hell no. The dealer sighed and said that model had been on the lot for 6 months and nobody would buy it. They were likely going to have to mark it down massively to eventually move it in the next year.
My work truck is a Chevy. If they drop android auto or carplay my fleet manager has told the dealership they will drop them as a supplier. This combined with having 7 trucks in the shop this year for faulty lifters. It’s been a big issue. They are about done with them.
FYI - In .y experience it’s a bit small for a good seed collection.
The proper size would be around 1/2 of your house.
