I actually don’t know that much about LLM’s. I do know they require a ton of energy to train the models. But once those are trained, the smaller models especially, don’t require that much to run, right? I once tried to run a local one to see how much it took, and my gpu maxed out for a few seconds and the LLM spit out text and it was done. While when playing games, the gpu maxes out for hours.

Again, i don’t know super much about them as i have only used it a few times over the years to break down big tasks into smaller tasks for my AuDHD when i am very overwhelmed, and it was kinda nice for that.

The image generation stuff is pretty bad though from what i have read. Plus it steals peoples art. Fuck that shit.

This is something I’m very much behind. I think firefox is doing something similar if i am not mistaken. One of my favorite shows is a Japanese tv show called GameCenter CX. Fans create subtitles but its a lot of work. Lately they have been using ai to generate subtitles and while some are a bit messed up, you at least get the idea what is going on and they can work off of that if necessary.

But i can’t hear shit when my washing machine is on! Let alone have a fucking phone call! Who comes up with this shit…

That is just not true. I hate twitter but i still use it. I am autistic and follow very specific things on it and while i also use mastodon and bluesky, there is barely anyone that has the same current interests as i do.

I don’t like it but i also don’t completely want to alienate myself from people i enjoy talking to and seeing their stuff. I try to follow them all on mastodon and bluesky if they have an account there, but not everyone has that.

I have all ads blocked and purely use it for my hobbies. So suggesting that makes me a fascist is absolutely ridiculous. We are trying to move to another platform but its not as easy as you make it out to be.

Same as Lemmy. I love Lemmy. BUT there are things that just so not exist here yet that do exist on reddit. And i have no interest in making a community for it either as i don’t want to moderate anything.

Even a few months ago it was hard for people with the knowledge to use AI on photos. I don’t like the idea of this but its unavoidable. There is already so much misinformation and this will make it so much worse.

Elon downloaded blender and spend 3 minutes on a cube. Then forced the poor engineers to make his car “design”.

Its hard because people can use that as an excuse to harm people they pretend is harming them.

I was at my parents house last week because i had to help them with their laptop. I told my mom about firefox and she was very confused because she doesn’t seem to understand that google chrome is a browser and that every browser can access google search or their banking site.

It took a bit of effort to explain that firefox works the exact same but is safer and faster.

She is now using firefox on her phone because i showed her ublock origin works with it to block ads.

A lot of people don’t seem to understand that google chrome isn’t the internet and what exactly a browser is.

I think the issue is that most people aren’t that bright and will not verify information like you or me.

They already believe every facebook post or ragebait article. This will sadly only feed their ignorance and solidify their false knowledge of things.

Its not that easy. There is no alternative for some of the big games. I play genshin impact and honkai star rail and these games do not run on linux.

I use linux but keep windows dual booted purely for these games.

Asking people to give up their hobby is not a solution.
