Europe@feddit.org•Hungary's new government pushes for euro by 2030English
16·1 month agoGood on them, I never understood why there are still so many countries holding onto their national currencies. It makes trade and tourism so unnecessary complicated.

Europe@feddit.org•Ursula von der Leyen skips major global health fundraising summitEnglish
5·7 months agoSeveral major EU donors, including France’s President Emmanuel Macron, also did not attend, but von der Leyen’s no show is a surprise as she is understood to already be in Johannesburg for the G20 summit.
I would assume the announcement of the Russian-American surrender plan for Ukraine has something to do with it.

Have you been to the “official” one in front of the City Hall or the one in the red-light district? The latter can certainly be an experience.

Technology@lemmy.world•New Study: At Least 15% of All Reddit Content is Corporate Trolls Trying to Manipulate Public OpinionEnglish
3·7 months ago15% ist already an insane number considering the size of Reddit’s userbase.
When the EU’s former competition Commissioner, Margrethe Vestager, announced those preliminary findings she warned that the only effective remedy – should the violations be confirmed – would be for the EU to break up Google.
No other option would resolve the “inherent” conflict of interest flowing from Google’s dominance of all sides of the ad market, Vestager suggested two years ago.
Yes please.

Europe@feddit.org•The European Union is introducing new brake-pad regulations that reduce dust pollution by 27 percentEnglish
241·10 months agoFor anyone doing the brakes on their car, look into ceramic brake pads. I’ve recently replaced mine and used the ones from ATE and it’s actually insane how much less brake dust these give off. My front wheels used to be absolutely coated in black dust after long road trips but now there is pretty much zero buildup. They are only like 1-2 Euros more expensive than the regular ones. It’s a total no-brainer.
