I’ll start: while looking at app theming I came across WallRizz, renamed from WallWiz. I haven’t tried it, and looking at it documentation it seems well made, but I cringe at the name and the AI-generated penguin logo. It shares the art style of all the other AI slop, its basically italian brainrot but 2D. WallWiz sounds way better, rizz sounds like it was specially designed for gen alpha (little kids). If there are apps of even similar quality, why would I use this one?
Yes, excessive emoji in the in the description is a massive red flag to me.
There is excessive, then there is that.

Yeah, although it goes both ways. A piece of software with tons of effort put into branding gets eyed extra closely. Chances are its commercial software, which typically means it’s crappy.
I’ve decided long ago to not use libraries or other packages with any remotely sexually suggestive anime/furry mascots or graphics in the repo or docs or even developers avatars. I prefer we work with a less perfect fit and do what we must for our needs.
Fuck me if I’m in a business meeting and a higher up or client decides to look something in the spec up and lands on that GitHub page. No way I’m interested in explaining or justifying any of it because why would I.
Sure. More recently it’s been anything whose marketing is all or partially AI slop. Instant red flag. Person below mentioned emojis, ditto on that. Pretty much anything that looks too “slick” to me. If the name is something like “Leaf” it’s probably shit. If it looks like it was made by a team of 30 marketing graduates, it’s probably shit. If it’s called “UltimateRePak2K” and looks like an industrial tool that hasn’t had a graphics update since Windows 7, it’s probably an unbreakable great bit of software.
