I don’t understand. Congress is supposed to decide how we spend money and how much we tax. Why is the president doing those things?

And the citizens are letting Congress do it.

FEDUSA is deadIt’s not just this Congress rolling over to expose their bellies. The Legislative has been ceding power to the Executive for several decades, Republican and Democrat alike. They seem to think this is OK as their guy will get the power.
Having said that, I’ve never seen such cowardice. The Judicial is hanging in there, and yes, even this SCOTUS has voted against Trump. But our entire system is predicated on a 3-way balance of powers. Now that two of those powers are in absolute collusion, we’re collapsing.
