From Garbage Truck to Slop Taxi

This thing is The Homer, but if Homer watched back to the future and was a nazi.
From the first demo of the bullet proof glass shattering, it was obvious this was trash.
There’s a guy near me who drives one, he parks it next to the garbage dumpster and it fits in perfectly.
Are you kidding, the Homer had a domed windshield, two of them! … full 360 degree unobstructed view of the world … what does the cybertruck have? Angles! … The Homer was way ahead of its time
THE HOMER HAD A LA CUCARACHA HORN. BIG AUTO KILLED IT.
Now I want a LA CUCARACHA horn for my vehicle
The first thing my grandpa did when we he bought a new car was install one of these lol
Also a siren. I don’t know why he wanted a siren so bad.
The CyberCab will have a horn that plays Kid Rock’s Bawtidaba.
The Homer itself is full of practical decisions (see things well, keep the noisy kids away), my analogy is Homer knew nothing about car design, designed something nobody wanted, and the company invested so much into the idea it basically ruined them.
Racket pinion steering!
The Homer was fugly, but it was fun.
CyberDumpster is fugly, and lacks fun. Even if you take Muskrat’s politics out of the equation, the dumpster isn’t functional, and is outperformed by a Honda half its price.
There is someone who has one in my area and taking a look at him…he just looks like a guy who has always tried so painfully to be in the cool crowd, so he jumps first into new things, but just keeps failing. And, it’s very clear that he can’t do anything else with it because he dropped so much money on it and likely can’t afford to “trade-in” for half its value.
The Simpsons predict the Cybertruck
And he still found a way to make luxury cars from the future tacky.
I’m not getting in one of those. I will walk. No thank you.
Imagine what getting replacement parts for that “truck” will be now.
Same for the models X and S. The S was actually a decent car. Sucks to own one now.
Are there any official sales numbers? My guess would be about 10k.

If we have fully autonomous cars, why would we need cabs?
1… Buy fully autonomous car
2… rent it out as an autonomous cab
3… use an autonomous cab to get around
4… ???
5… Profit
This works if most people don’t have an autonomous car too, so they are forced to rent one. The business case for this is such level of poverty where most people cannot afford owning a car; and then a petty rentier class exploiting them for pennies. Welcome to neo-feudalism.
I don’t want someone riding around in my car unsupervised. Give me good public transport instead!
Exactly.
It’s a matter of who owns the resource, and your current state assumption is what oligarchs want to change.
Just like PCs, they will structure it so you won’t be able to afford one. For vehicles they’ll use the insurance industry as a wedge as well, and as more and more people lease/rent their vehicle with included insurance(this will be one of the talking points for the owners class selling you one), those trying to not have a rent payment will see their premiums ever increase.
Think about how insane car prices have gotten ecen for used vehicles in the last few years–and It’s not improving even though all the “supply chain” issues attributed to COVID have long ended. It’s the same system phenomenon that happens in gentrifying areas with the existing minorities; property values go up, as do property taxes and even long-time residents who own their home free and clear can’t afford the property tax increases–it snowballs into additional gentrification.
It’s a matter of who owns the resource,
Yes so Musk wants us to drive cabs as in not owning our own cars, and Sam Altman wants us to not own our own AI but rent it from ChatGPT.
THEY want it that way to monopolize a service and make more money.
The question was why would WE want it?
Going to get so much hate for this. I hate Nazis as much as the next person, but I was in Austin over the weekend and those cybercabs were so cool to ride in.
nice going checks name Smerlon Trusk?
