Most stressful moments in my life:
- Witnessing the births of my children
- Gluing up woodworking projects
- Combat in Syria
But actually, gluing is so goddamn stressful to me.
Leg #1, my golden boy, worked perfectly, the glue looked good, the toothpick went in with just the right amount of friction, just beautiful.
Then I go to do leg #3, the ugly-ass, stretch Armstrong looking motherfucker, and the toothpick snaps after it was already fully inserted into the leg. THEN, when I used a pliers to pull it out, the end just ripped off, so I ended up relying on the suction inherent in the joint and prayers.
I think it’ll all turn out okay.
^this is #1, my golden boy
^top leg here is fuck-ass #3
Update: having taken the time to look at these pictures, I realize how horrifically uneven the tops of the legs are and I want to burn it. I did the gluing in a huge rush and it shows :[
It’s horrifically uneven, sure. But it’s still wood and can still be shaped. (This literally is rocket science so precision may matter more than I could speculate.)
Yeah I know, I’m definitely gonna do some minor shaping with sandpaper before applying the finish
I relate a little too much to leg #3.
~He isn’t being difficult on purpose, and really is trying his best. 😥~
Still a pain in my ass
Are you putting together the 00000 V2 rocket?
I don’t understand the 00000, but the V-2 was a large part of the aesthetic inspiration
The Schwarzgerät?
Interesting, never in my life would I have learned about that if you hadn’t mentioned it, so thank you
It is kind of like the white whale in Moby Dick, mixed up with a lot of acid and interwoven into a Hansel and Gretel story. If that doesn’t make sense I explained it properly.
There’s nothing for it, but to build it again, applying everything you learned building this practice model.
Don’t tempt me
