8·2 months agoAudiophiles get a lot of friction, but this kind of person exists in almost any hobby. People fascinated by equipment and ascetics who loose the plot about what their hobby is all about.
The fine print is worse. If you cancel, you owe a fee equal to the rental price for the remainder of the year.

Technology@lemmy.world•Operation Sovereignty - Germany plans a breakthrough from M$English
72·2 months agoIt makes strategic sense to decouple from American tech now that they know we’ere an unreliable ally. Microslop won’t guarantee your data won’t go through American servers and jurisdictions. It’s also resistance to Tariff wars and Greenland bullshit that pokes the US in it’s conspirator industry, Big Tech.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Should there be something that installs Linux to disk directly from Windows?
2·3 months agoThis might not be feasible. IDK how you could install a whole OS, inside of another, without looking like a serious virus or malware. There are many files that cannot be changed while Windows is running (why it needs to reboot so often for updates). And no sane OS is going to let a program edit things like the MBR.

33·3 months agoThe other day, my mother approached me about Office alternatives. Before she retired, she daily drove Office, but feels like it’s changed so much that learning a new program isn’t any more friction than keeping up with AI bullshit.

People leaving Twitter now is not very impressive. Less “seeing the light” and more “Trumpgret”.
I’ll remind you that the Debian project left Twitter over a year ago. So the EFF isn’t as fast moving or comfortable with change like … Debian.
