It is such a shame that ZFS isn’t a straightforward option on almost all distros.

I primarily use Libre Wolf but playing back hdr videos in Plex might just be easier to use Chromium than mpv.

While you’re at it consider using docker.

This is great but it would have to be pretty terrific to get me to replace Plasma.

Maybe it hasn’t been fully implemented yet but when I play HDR videos in MPV right now it is still not working. But running that command works as expected.

No hate, but I laughed out loud when I read distraction free and saw that the first screenshot shows an embedded browser.

Like, I get that there is value in having an embedded browser but if it’s there then I would not consider the editor to be distraction free.

Do I have to enable HDR in Plasma settings? Because when I do, and then log out, plasma crashes and I have to log into a different DE and disable HDR in the terminal.

I guess I meant it’s a lot of work to set up initially. Especially if you don’t have experience.

I like the idea of deduplication and checksumming to prevent bit rot. It also sounds like backups via snapshots is extremely powerful, but maybe that’s something btrfs can do too.

Ultimately though it would be about learning. That’s what’s drawn me to Linux in the first place.

Yeah they transferred all of our network files held on our own private servers over to Teams. I didn’t even know that teams did file storage. I guess through one drive.

I remember doing this in macOS, when I got my first SSD. I installed it and kept the os on the SSD and mapped my user directory to my hdd. It made upgrades and re-installs much easier, which was a plus because it was actually a hackintosh.

I don’t think anyone who isn’t already curious about Linux should install Linux. And I sure as hell am not going to try to convince anyone and be blamed for not being able to use adobe products.
