Oh yeah, makes total sense guy.

I’d think this is a good thing then for that, less interference

Depends on how you define “better.” You can generate many variants of a scene this way, at night say, or in snowy conditions. You can mock up emergency response situations. It’s part of the story you’re telling but not a straight up replacement.

I work in this space: you can use it to mock up commercial developments, changes in land use, etc., to see what it would look like. Somewhat useful when presenting rather dry architectural diagrams into realistic looking scenes.
Now, why it was broadly opened to the public is unclear to me other than being a flex?

I’m pretty skeptical local models can hold a candle to the cloud-based ones, particularly the ones Apple trains.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t AlphaFold basically solve protein folding, as in their master database of folds is now complete? Doesn’t it make sense to move on at this point?

Reasonable.
Well yeah, these guys live there

God this page is mobile cancer, even with an adblocker

“For cause” at my company is gross malfeasance, not merely performing well below expectations. It’s the employer again putting themselves first: problematic employees are “harder” to get rid of than the status quo of letting them stick around indefinitely. Sucks for everyone else who has to work with them. Every company should cull a small number of people every year.

I actually think a few % a year is healthy (1% feels right to me). I work at a company where we never lay anyone off and it’s led to a bunch of deadweight in the company that make work harder for everyone else. You gotta have some mechanism to let low performers go.
10% is way too high though

And all this shit is insured

For years, we’ve been warned that the robots are coming for us. Now they’re asking us to come for them.
Some gold quotes in this one

I don’t even get how it would work in practice. If me and another person are staring at the price tag of a block of cheese, and I’m rich and they’re not, does it laser beam a price into my eyeballs and a different, lower price into theirs? Cause otherwise when I take the block of cheese to the register and suddenly it’s double the price, I’m putting the cheese back cause I saw the lower price.

I guess the question is, what distinguishes a “dead” cell from a “live” one if it is not in decay? What makes this Mantis impossible to revive?

Real question: if the amber prevents the mantis from decaying, and its cells are still intact, is it actually dead? Do we know that for sure?

Yeah I’ve known about this for like 5 years. It’s not at all new.

The problem here is “expected.” Maybe they’re right and AI will do what they say…well, show us the receipts first then before you ruin thousands of people’s lives?

I don’t get the downvotes, you are correct. The OP’s comment that NATO only intervenes defensively is clearly wrong.
Should they intervene here? No, definitely not because this is a stupid, stupid war, and that’s reason enough.
Yeah…no. This is going to the Supreme Court and there’s zero chance their right wing, Trump-choad-gargling asses don’t rule in favor of AI companies.
