  • Your second points me and then completely fails to actually understand what you quoted. You even quoted the sentence before it which gives the context. I was incredibly clear; it could be the greatest thing even but it’s still going to do more harm than good, and it’s not like we, the working class, will see these benefits.

AI is only here to stay because fuck-ass people keep jerking it off. We can stop using it and we can fight against the data centres, and we can demand better conditions under which AI can be introduced for more safely. Instead we’re like “ruin our lives so the rich can get richer? Sure thing!”

  • As much as I also just think AI is just going to make lazy people lazier, and we’ve already seen some effects regarding our ability to problem solve, the real issue is that none of the wonderful utopian AI stuff is going to come true at the rate we’re going. I don’t guve a fat flying fuck how good or bad AI is, I care that it’s being used to spy on us, make decisions no human will ever review, and has already led to mass layoffs without any kind of safety net for those people. I care that it’s raping the environment so some sentient dick-cheese can get worse results than a near-zero effort search would give them. Increased productivity has yet to give anyone more free time, they just axe someone else and overwork whoever’s left.

We are NOT ready for AI at ANY level. It’s a weapon being used against the working class. If you think the issue is with its quality then you need to sit the fuck down, shut the fuck up, and pay some goddamn attention.

  • So the article claims that people can improve, and improvement is necessarily based on surpassing prior, personal ability, and you’re mad?

I didn’t see anywhere that they said that a 90 year old can get the brain of a 20 year old, only that it can still be improved at that age and we don’t need to resign ourselves to a degraded mind when we’re old. If we buy a new car it’ll never be as clean as it was off the lot, but that doesn’t mean it can’t at least be repaired and kept roadworthy later into it’s life.

  • Economies are strongest when small amojnts change hands often which is exactly the opposite of what the current concentration of wealth seeks to do. These are people who work and vote against minimum wage increases, unions, and who constantly push propaganda blaming the working class for spending money to deflect from the fact that they don’t pay enough.

It’s not “absurd” to say that the richest among us are trying to drain wealth out of the working class because it’s happening in broad daylight. We can all see it, they don’t give a shit about their employees. It’s to the point were every 4-day work-week experiment has been a success both for employee happiness and productivity but we still aren’t seeing that schedule being adopted.

The rich do not care about you, and if millions of the working class die they don’t give a shit. Slave plantations weren’t actually all that efficient but it didn’t matter because it the abuse was part of it.

  • I just want to see Windows, and so many other layered-up legacy programs, refreshed. My other example is AutoCAD for a software that’s just half-finished garbage stacked on top of older half-finished garbage for a while until it’s all on top of a program that was designed for computers from the ‘90s.

Windows has other problems, of course, like how no matter how good their shit is they still have absolutely dogshit, anti-human behaviours, but still.

Anyway, someone else was saying the article might not even have any real sources but I wanted to rant about this so…hurray.

  • It’s wild considering one the first things people did with LLMs was that lawyers had it do their work for them and they showed up to court with documents that were partially made up. Literally stuff within the law sphere and these guys still couldn’t learn from the mistakes of others.

    AI is so fucking stupid.

  • Once capitalism has regulations to keep it in check and a democratically elected government is in charge and willing to do those things it’s no longer capitalism. Capitalism is putting monied interests first and crossing your fingers that the free hand of the market is anything more than a fairy told to naive idiots to make them support a corrupt-by-design system, such that those monied interests can be said to be chosen “democratically”(vote with your wallets).

Capitalism just sucks. It was made up so parasites nobles didn’t have to give up their ill-gotten wealth when feudalism ended. Fuckin’ thing is rotten to its core.
